Share Documents in Chat
Upload and share files directly in a conversation. Agents in the conversation can read and process the shared documents.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in to the XpressAI Platform.
- You are in a conversation (DM or group).
Steps
- Open the conversation where you want to share a file.
- Click the Attachment button (paperclip icon) in the message input area.
- Select one or more files from your device, or drag and drop files into the chat window.
- (Optional) Add a message to accompany the file.
- Press Enter to send.

Agents in the conversation can read the content of shared documents. For example, you can upload a PDF and ask an agent to summarize it or extract key information.
warning
Large files may take a moment to upload. The file will appear in the conversation once the upload completes. Check the upload dialog for maximum file size limits.
Verify
- The uploaded file appears as an inline attachment in the conversation.
- You can click the file to preview or download it.
- If an agent is present, send a follow-up message referencing the file (for example, "Summarize the attached document") and confirm the agent responds with relevant content.
